Prior Degree Verification: Incoming First-Year Students

• Incoming first-year students must provide a copy of their official high school transcript.
• Admitted first-year students for whom we have not been able to verify a high school degree in the first semester of enrollment will not be able to register for subsequent semesters.

Prior Degree Verification: Incoming Graduate and Professional Students

• The Office of the University Registrar verifies all prior educational credentials for admitted students who intend to matriculate. All matriculated students must provide official copies of transcripts and any other required supporting documentation as part of the prior degree verification process.
• Together with the International Student and Scholar Services office, we highly recommend that entering graduate and professional students who completed a degree at an international institution obtain a certified course-by-course evaluation of their degree(s). Evaluations should be completed by a NACES-approved agency.
• Admitted students will not be able to register for classes until the Office of the University Registrar has verified their degree(s).

Credit for A-Levels/International Examinations

• Credits awarded for GCE A-Level Examinations: https://registrar.vanderbilt.edu/international-examinations.php#A-Level.
• Credits awarded for Cambridge Pre-U Examinations: https://registrar.vanderbilt.edu/international-examinations.php#Pre-U. 
• For other international examinations, submit syllabi and supporting documentation to external.education@vanderbilt.edu.

Transfer Credit from International Institutions

• Credit will be considered for courses taken at international institutions with country-specific accreditation.
• Credit requirements vary between educational systems. The number of transfer credit awarded depends on the credit system of the international institution as well as the determination of evaluators at Vanderbilt.

Additional Requirements

• All entering students must comply with State of Tennessee and Vanderbilt immunization requirements.
• Admitted students will not be able to register for classes until Student Health has verified compliance.
