Degree Audit Exception User Guide - Graduate School
The Kuali workflow application has been implemented for administrators to request exceptions to a student's degree audit requirements. Administrators should refer to the Graduate School catalog for academic regulations and program requirements.

Initiating the Degree Audit Exception
- Enter the student's EMPLID, also known as the CommodoreID.
- The student's VUnetID, First Name, and Last Name will auto-populate. Make sure it is the correct student.
- Select the Program to which the exception(s) will be applied.
- Career and Program information will auto-populate.
- Requirement Type - Select the requirement type.
- Select the Applicable Academic Plan from the drop-down menu.
- Plan information will auto-populate.
- List the specific requirement of the degree audit you wish to override as it is reflected in the degree audit.
- An example is provided for reference. You will need to view your student’s degree audit for your program’s specific requirement.
- Describe the override. For course exceptions, include the term of enrollment. Multiple courses may be included for the same specific requirement. For transfer credit, indicate the external subject and course number. For non-coursework clearance, such as a paper or presentation, include the date the requirement was completed.
- To add an exception for another specific requirement, select Add Another and repeat steps 8-10.
- Documentation in support of this request is required if the DGS does not initiate the request. *The Graduate School requires documentation of DGS approval.
- Select Submit when complete.
Approval Workflow
The form will route to the Office of Academic Services (OAS) associated with the student’s program. If necessary, the OAS will advance the form to their Associate Dean for further review and approval.
Accessing Your Work Queue
In addition to clicking on the Begin Review button embedded in the notification emails, you can access your work queue at the following web address: https://vanderbilt.kualibuild.com/app/builder/#/actions. Click Action List.
Notifications
Users will receive the following email notifications from Kuali.
- Returned forms
- Denied forms
- Process completed
