Blair School of Music Letter

You have indicated an interest in pursuing an intra-university transfer to the Blair School of Music. Because your application will not be considered until grades for the current semester are available, please pre-register with the school in which you are currently enrolled. You may obtain advice regarding proposed coursework from Dean Melissa Rose.

In order to be considered for intra-university transfer, please contact Dean Rose for an appointment at 615-322-7693 or melissa.rose@vanderbilt.edu.

Students intending to transfer to Blair are expected to enroll in a semester of performance instruction (1100 level) in voice, piano, jazz, or an orchestral instrument at the Blair School before auditioning to transfer. A student recommended by their instructor may audition for a transfer during performance exams (juries) at the end of the first semester of private study. A student with significant past experience in an instrument or voice outside of the Blair School may request an audition, regardless of enrollment in private instruction with Blair faculty, during performance juries at the end of the semester, in order to qualify for a transfer to Blair in the following semester. Audition requests must be approved by Blair faculty after a pre-screening interview takes place.

Your request for intra-university transfer will be approved if you meet audition, credit hour and grade point average requirements.
